| Description |
Originating in Mexico, the Golden Barrel cactus (Echinocactus Grusonii) can reach up to six feet in height and spread. The stem is heavily ribbed with numerous yellow spines and a creamy wooly crown at the top of the plant. As the plant matures, the body stretches upwards becoming barrel shaped and in summer can produce vivid yellow flowers from the top. |
| Care and Handling |
In containers, it grows best in well drained soil (equal parts of amended soil and sandy) and in full sun. While tender to frost, the plant can resist very dry conditions. Growth rate is slow. Drench with water and allow to become moderately dry between waterings. Fertilize every 2-4 months. |
